At the age of 9yrs old, I saw the movie Star Wars and I realized that through cinema, anything could be possible. I made my first 8mm stop motion film using my Star Wars figurines and built a miniature set with bottles of talcum powder for snow. I was hooked.
At 28 I moved to Los Angeles and started working in the Art Department making special effects rigs and building sets, eventually becoming an Art Director. When digital editing became possible on set, I decided to invest everything I had and build a recording system that allowed playback to monitors around the set for directors and clients. I learned how to edit on set while we were shooting a 30 second commercial. We could shoot for days, but the story always had to be cut to 30 seconds giving me experience on how to tell a story in a short amount of time. In 2007 I started directing some projects of my own and then moved onto directing commercials.
In 2013 I met an incredible girl that loved to travel the world. In 2014, we got married. Aggie showed me her passion for travel and I was able to bring what I knew to capturing our moments together. I was still a video guy more than a photographer, so it was something I had to learn.
We spent the next 4 years together traveling the world and capturing our incredible adventures. I used my background of story telling to create videos, but also to try and capture a story within just a single frame. I pushed myself to learn. The only way to get better at what you do is to expand on what you know, and to practice what you learn.
